My name is Rebecca Howell, owner of Profits First with Purpose, LLC. I have been certified with Profit First since 2020. I am also the previous owner of Custom Bookkeeping & Accounting Solutions, LLC since 2003. I just recently sold my bookkeeping business so I could concentrate on helping business owners with their WHY. 

My career started working for a small CPA firm in Scottsdale, Arizona as a staff accountant. After three tax seasons, I realized I could make a successful business for myself while helping other business owners with their bookkeeping needs. 

In 2018 my family and I moved to Washington State where I was able to grow with business from being a solo entrepreneur to a team of 5 team in 2022. Prior to starting Profit First in 2020, I was not consistently paying myself, robbing my business with distributions and expensing as much as I could to not have to pay the IRS anymore than I had too. Without Profit First in my business during my growth, I am 100% certain I would not have known how to manage my business finances correctly. Even with being the great bookkeeper I was, my finances without a plan and a system would have been all over the place. 

Since starting Profit First in my business I can pay myself at the same time I paid my employees, pay myself my value, paid off over $16,000 in business debt and over $20,000 in personal debt. I also had to write a check to the IRS in 2023 for over $26,000. It is not about how much I had to pay but that I had the exact amount of money saved that I needed to pay. None of us like to pay our taxes, but this is a necessity. Having a plan that helps you to not worry about how you are going to pay the IRS but having the exact amount you need relieves a lot of unnecessary stress!

Since 2020, I have been working as a Fractional CFO contractor for another company. During this time, I have learned a lot from working with business owners and how all people view and feel about money. We specialize in helping Real Estate Investors manage their cash flow and deals. We also use the Profit First system to help them grow their wealth and manage their finances. In Late 2020 and early 2021, I created a Podcast called Let’s Make a Profit, where I shared tips to get Profit First starts in your business. I was so busy with my bookkeeping business growth, that I was unable to keep up with the demands of a podcast. I am hoping one day I can get back to it.  We have posted a few of those episodes on the home page
